The National Research Nuclear University "MEPhI" (NRNU MEPhI) in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency is organizing the Second Regional workshop on «The role of computer-based educational laboratories in Nuclear Engineering University Programs», which is directed to improve university programs for nuclear engineering education using implementation of modern training technologies based on computer simulating systems and virtual laboratories.

The workshop will be held for representatives of the universities from a number of countries, as well as for nuclear energy specialists, who are interested in the development and improvement of education for specialists on nuclear technology and engineering. The workshop should be of a special interest to embarking countries that are developing their own nuclear education programmes.

The objectives of the workshop are: to discuss the role of special educational means and tools based on NPP computer-based simulators, virtual nuclear laboratories, Professional Nuclear Information Systems and Databases (JANIS, etc.); Professional computer programs for calculated simulation (ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.) in developing the required competences in the field of nuclear engineering and NPP technologies and to support scientific research activities in the field; to share hands-on experience in implementing modern simulation technologies to nuclear engineering education and training in order to improve Nuclear Engineering Educational Programmes. A special attention will be paid to use of special educational means to conduct practical training on Bachelor’s and Master’s levels; and to identify the common needs, possible solutions and further actions to improve a quality of nuclear engineering education.

The workshop will be held from 17-19 March 2015 at the NRNU MEPhI, Moscow, Russian Federation.
