On July 16 in Cape Town, South Africa, the State Corporation Rosatom will give a seminar for managers and technical specialists on the competencies and offers in the sphere of thermal power industry. During the seminar Nikolay Drozdov, Director of International Business Department of Rosatom, will speak about Russian technologies suitable for African thermal power sector while Knox Msebenzi, Executive Director of the Power Institute for East and Southern Africa (PIESA) will give a speech about challenges which African energy sector faces today.
Rosatom’s engineering division representatives will show Russian equipment for thermal power industry. Dmitry Vysotsky, Head of Strategy Division of NIAEP-ASE United Company will make a report on designing and building complex engineering energy objects and will consider the example of the Yuzhnouralskaya hydroelectric power plant construction. Igor Kotov, General Director of AEM-technology, will present the solutions offered by Rosatom’s engineering division for the international market, and Andrey Shevlyakov, Deputy Director of ZIO-Podolsk, will speak about power generation equipment for thermal power plants. The issues of energy project financing will be covered during the speech of Pavel Ryzhkovsky, Senior Manager of the Export Insurance Agency of Russia (EXIAR).
According to Nikolay Drozdov, “for the last 10 years Africa has demonstrated high economic growth rate and, therefore, an increase in energy consumption is observed. It’s obvious that today the demand is much higher than supply. The reason for this is that Africa doesn’t have enough available resources to generate the necessary amount of electricity. The existing hydroelectric power stations and thermal power plants should be upgraded and Rosatom is ready to help to do this. We are also willing to provide our assistance if there is a need for help with new energy objects construction, as we have wide experience of providing integrated solutions in thermal power industry.”
Rosatom will give its seminar as part of the PowerGen Africa-2015 International Forum which will take place in Cape Town from July 15 to July 17.
PowerGen Africa is the leading regional conference and exhibition dedicated to the power industry of African countries. The Forum is aimed at unifying leading world suppliers of power equipment and at energy infrastructure development in the dynamically growing region. The event is also a great platform for discussion and joint decision-making concerning current global and regional energy challenges.
As part of the Forum the exhibition of Rosatom will be organized. It will demonstrate Rosatom’s leadership in the international market, the Corporation’s foreign projects and the experience of the companies of the Russian nuclear power industry in thermal power and in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry.
