Sergey Obozov

Background

Sergey Obozov was born on September 18, 1960 in Pavlovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region. He graduated from the Gorky Polytechnic Institute (1984), the Presidential Academy of National Economy and the Nizhny Novgorod Academy of Public Administration (1994). Mr Obozov holds a post-doctoral degree in Economics. In 1986–1988, he worked in the Communist Youth League Committee at the Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard, and then continued his party career as First Secretary of the Sormovo District Communist Youth League Committee before moving to Deputy Chairman of Sormovo District Council of People's Deputies. In 1992–1999, Mr Obozov held high ranking positions in the Sormovo District and Nizhny Novgorod City Administrations.
In 1999–2000, he served as President of Volga Oil Company and First Deputy CEO for Economics and Planning at Sibur-Neftekhim. Then Mr Obozov returned to civil service, first as Chief Federal Inspector for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and then as Head of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Government. In 2001, Mr Obozov was appointed Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President to the Volga Federal District. In 2005, he took the office of Deputy CEO at Rosenergoatom responsible for the construction of floating nuclear power plants. In 2006, he was promoted first to Acting CEO and then CEO of Rosenergoatom, where he worked until July 2011.
