Yuri Olenin

Background

Yuri Olenin was born on November 13, 1953, in Kirovabad (Azerbaijan). In 1976, he graduated from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. Later he was awarded a doctoral degree for his thesis on pattern recognition and short-range detection. Mr Olenin also holds a degree in Law from the Penza State Technical University and has completed management and executive development programmes at the Manchester Business School and German Management Academy. In 2002, he received a post-doctoral degree for his thesis on radar detection and identification of low level targets. In 1976–1989, he held a number of engineering positions, first at the Kometa Research and Development Institute (Ashtarak, Armenia), then at the Design and Engineering Bureau (Zarechny, Russia) In 1989, he continued his career as Chief Designer and Director of the Electronics Engineering R&D Institute, then as Deputy CEO of the Eleron Specialized Research Organization (Zarechny, Russia). In 2004, Mr Olenin was appointed CEO at the Start Production Association (Zarechny, Russia). In March 2007, Yuri Olenin joined TVEL as its First Vice President and was soon promoted to the position of President.
