Rosenergoatom announced today that unit 4 of the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant in the Sverdlovsk district of Russia had been brought to 15% of its installed capacity to produce the first steam from its generators.

The process is part of the start-up procedure for the BN-800 fast neutron reactor, which was brought to the minimum controlled power level on 10 November.

The long process of gradually increasing the unit's power to its nominal capacity of 800 MWe will follow.
