Machine Building Plant, a subsidiary of Russian nuclear fuel manufacturer TVEL, has completed annual production of uranium dioxide fuel pellets for pressurized heavy water reactors in India, under IAEA safeguards.

The final batch of the 303 tonnes of uranium ordered by India's Department of Atomic Energy was delivered to the Indian nuclear fuel complex in Hyderabad last month, TVEL said.

The order is part of a long-term fuel pellet supply contract that the Department of Atomic Energy and TVEL signed in February 2009. Talks between the two parties have already started on an extension to the contract, which expires this year, TVEL said.
