Tochmash, a subsidiary of Russian nuclear fuel manufacturer TVEL, has signed a contract with Rosenergoatom for the manufacture of components for the core of RBMK-1000 reactors.

The contracted components include a device to lower fuel assemblies into a reactor channel and another device to close the channel. Both products will need to be replaced along with the future replacement of fuel assemblies. The contract covers 2016-2017 and follows a similar agreement signed by the two companies for 2012-2014, according to which Tochmash supplied components to the Leningrad, Smolensk and Kursk nuclear power plants.
